Fullness of Joy

I have selected a number of excellent books which could help you in your Christian walk.

First of all, let me explain my name. My birth certificate shows the name Dolores, which means sorrow.

In 1988, at a conference of counsellors of an organization of which I was part, the Holy Spirit came in power upon us all, and as a result I was given the gift of joy and told that my name had been changed to Joy. I only had to raise my hand and people fell down convulsed with helpless laughter. However, when the fire comes any sin is exposed and within two months that organization was wound up. I was part of a Church in Wales congregation at that time, and there was no opportunity to use the gift I had been given and I gradually lost it and did not follow through on the change of name.

When I went to the Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship Bride of Christ Conference in June 2000, a lady mentioned to my friend Jackie, that there was something wrong with my name and that she was totally unable to pronounce it. Jackie told her that God had changed my name about 12 years previously and she emphatically insisted that Joy was what I should be called as this was why she was unable to get her tongue around Dolores.

I can't say that I was terribly enthusiastic as I thought Dolores was rather a classy name and one that I could hide behind (my persona) and I was quite well-known in certain circles. My first thought was "No-one will know who I am." However, that night the Lord made it quite plain that Joy was my name and that I should change to it immediately. As I had said at the beginning of the week that I would say 'Yes Lord' to everything He asked of me, I really had no choice and I have now adopted the name of Joy. It was a confirmation of that word from 1988 and I am now starting to feel quite comfortable with it. Fortunately, my second name begins with J so it does not seem that strange.
