Fullness of Joy

Ps.16:11 "...In Your presence there is fullness of joy;..."NKJV

A couple of years ago, after have a little trouble with my waterworks, my doctor referred me to a Consultant and in March of 2002 I was asked to attend for a day surgery investigation of my bladder.

As I had not received any notification of any results by June, Joy rang the Consultant's secretary and asked how long I would have to wait. After searching through the records she told her that I should have been recalled right away as a cancerous tumour had been diagnosed in my bladder from the biopsy taken during the day surgery in March. Within 10 days I was admitted for removal of the tumour. However, in church on the Sunday prior to my admittance, the whole church gathered around us and prayed that the surgeons would find nothing wrong.

I underwent a very uncomfortable few days, although I did manage a tapdance in the corridor when Joy and a friend came to see me the day after the operation. Before I left the hospital it was arranged for me to undergo 6 weeks of BCG treatment, which I was told was very effective in the treatment of this condition as it stimulated the immune system.

About 4 weeks later I had an appointment with the consultant and he told me that the results of examination of the tumour were completely clear and I could come back in 6 months for a checkup. So I said "Well, what about the BCG." "Oh, you won't need that now" he said. I then told him that I had had the second of the BCG treatments the day before. "Oh dear, then you had better finish the treament then." In spite of my trying to get out of this rather uncomfortable process, I had to go through with it, which seemed a bit of waste of time when there was nothing there.

However, I continued and 5 months after the operation I am now back to some semblance of normality and praising the Lord for His mercy and His healing.
